Hi everyone!

Thank you so much for the wonderful birthday wishes and gifts! Once again, I am very blessed and thankful for having you & your kiddo in my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity and thoughtfulness!

What Are We Learning This Week?
Math: Reviewing place value strategies. Understanding that the three digits of a 3-digit number represents amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones & counting within 1,000. (Lessons 1-5)
Reading: Words & Phrases (determining the meaning of words or phrases in a text)
Language: Possessives (using apostrophes to form possessives)
Writing:  Informative writing introduction (gathering info from text to create a report)
Science: Weather (weather tools & what is a meteorologist) & Dinosaurs (naming dinosaurs & a paleontologist's job)
Leadership: Self Control (examples of Martin Luther King, Jr)
Spelling: Long i (i, igh, y)

Homework~ 
Three journal entries (Reading comprehension summaries. 3 to 5 sentences per summary.)

Reading Comprehension Summaries~ When your kiddo is finished writing his/her summary, please have your kiddo edit his/her work by checking for capitalization, making sure it makes sense, using proper punctuation marks, and using correct spelling & spacing.

Dinosaur Museum Exhibit Assignment~ From January 5- February 19 kiddos will be using their research to write about their dinosaur during class time. At home, kiddos need to create a representation of their dinosaur. Due February 24. Be creative & have fun. From February 22-25 kiddos need to practice their 2 minute dinosaur speech to present on February 26 during our dinosaur museum exhibit. Please see packet/rubric.
