September 29 ~ October 3



Here is what we are learning this week:

Sight Word: or
Color: Purple 
Letter: Ff
Shape: Diamond
Theme: Apples, Leaves & Fall

Reading: Apples, colors, leaves & fall/autumn books. Please read the paper books that have gone home & check out our fun Smarty Ants reading program. Everyone is ready to go. Information form was sent home awhile ago.

Writing: Modeled & journal writing (I like...apples, I like/disliked apple bread).  Letter/word formation: Ff & "or". Focusing on the lines of the paper and staying on them & two finger spacing.

Math: Geoboards, patterns, sequencing, puzzles, shapes, memory match, grids, & graphs.

Leadership: Teamwork is October's leadership trait. We will introduce & discuss teamwork.  

Homework: Kiddos are doing a fantastic job with their homework packets!  They love sharing their creations with the class. Packets will be sent home Monday and due Friday.

Scholastic Book Orders: Book orders should be delivered sometime this week.

School Pictures: Will be sent home Monday.  

Class Picture Day: Say Cheese....Because we have new friends in our class we will be taking new class pictures on Friday, October 17.  If you are unhappy with your kiddos individual pictures this is the time to retake them.

Here is what we are learning this week:

Letter: Ee
Shape: Oval
Theme: Apples

Reading: Apples, colors, shapes & alphabet books. Reviewing all poems. 
Please read the paper books that have gone home, & if you are able to, check out our fun Smarty Ants reading program. Everyone is ready to go. Information form was sent home awhile ago.

Strategy: Make finger match the word, look at the picture & each letter makes a sound.

Writing: Modeled writing (I see me..., I see a...) & journal writing ( I see me...) .  Letter/word formation: Ee & me and focusing on the lines of the paper and staying on them.

Math: Patterns, sequencing, puzzles, shapes, memory match, grids, & graphs.

Leadership: We will continue to discuss ways to demonstrate grit at home and at school.

Homework: Kiddos are doing a fantastic job with their homework packets!  They love sharing their creations with the class. Packets will be sent home Monday and due Friday.

Scholastic Book Orders: Book orders have been submitted. I should be receiving the orders in about 10-14 work days.

Volunteers:  Thank you for all of your wonderful support in the classroom. I so greatly appreciate it!  If you feel a kiddo deserves to move up or down on our behavior chart, please feel free, without consulting me, to have the kiddo do so. I completely support your judgement.

Homework: Kiddos are doing a fantastic job with their homework packets!  They love sharing their creations with the class. Packets will be sent home Monday and due Friday.

Scholastic Book Orders: This is such a great and inexpensive way to order books for your child and with every order, you are providing a free book towards our classroom library! Just follow the directions on the Order Form Page that was sent home. The easiest way to shop/order is online at:
 scholastic.com/readingclub. Our one-time class activation code is: NBW2D. Book orders are due this Friday, September 19th. They will arrive in our classroom a few weeks after that date. 

Volunteers:  An updated volunteer list will be sent home Monday.  I'm looking forward to seeing everyone this week.

Leadership: This month our theme is "grit". We are teaching that grit is perseverance and passion for long-term goals. We will discuss ways to demonstrate grit at home and at school.

Homework: Homework packet has changed slightly.  Packets will be sent home Monday and due Friday.

Scholastic Book Orders: Will be sent home on Monday. This is such a great and inexpensive way to order books for your child and with every order, you are providing a free book towards our classroom library! Picture Day is this Friday!



Please be sure to return your child's picture envelope on Friday even if you will not be ordering pictures.  The photographer needs to collect them in order to make sure they have the correct name for the yearbook.  Thank you so much.

Week 4


Hoping you and your family had a great Labor Day weekend!


Say Cheese! Picture Day is this Friday, Sept. 5th.  Packets will go home this week and photos are typically taken first thing in the morning.  
Please plan on returning the envelope on Friday even if you are not ordering pictures.  

Kiddos did a fantastic job with last weeks homework packet.  T
hroughout the week we will be sharing last weeks creations.   New homework packets will be sent home Tuesday and will be due Friday.


Spanish class is every Tuesday from 10:40- 11:10.

I'm so excited to begin our parent volunteers in the classroom this week.  Please check in with the front office to receive a lanyard before coming to class.
