What We Are Learning This Week:

Theme: Five Senses

Letter: Hh

Sight Word:  My

Math:  Patterning, Sorting and Classifying, Number Writing ( 1-9)

Reading:  Locating and framing sight words, & getting our mouths ready for the first sound in words

Writing:  Spacing between words, return sweep, period at the end of the sentence & use of an uppercase letter at the beginning of the sentence.

Leadership: October's leadership theme is teamwork.  Our definition for teamwork is: working together to get a job done.

Appreciation: A special thank you goes out to Brock's daddy, fireman Jake.  He did a fantastic job teaching our kiddos: how to be fire safe, how to use a fire hose & the importance of fire equipment. Thank you also for the fire helmets & goody bags.  The kiddos greatly appreciate it!

Thank you parents for remembering to dress your kiddo in school colors (blue & gold) on Fridays.  Because of their school pride, they get to have Leo the Lion (our school's mascot/ stuffed lion) in our classroom for another week.

 

Think Pink ~ In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and for many of our ILCS families who have been affected by this disease, we would like to invite everyone to wear pink every Wednesday for the month of October!

Homework Folders~ Please remember  to bring folders to school daily & to clean them out weekly. 

Scholastic Reading Club ~ Optional. Scholastic makes it easy for you to choose books that engage your child at just the right reading level for him or her—and at unbeatable values.  Due Monday, October 20.

Oct. 13 ~ No School.  Teacher In-Service Day

Oct. 17 ~  Makeup Picture Day.  Our class will be taking a new class picture on this day.  Please have your kiddo dress nicely.  

Oct. 20 ~ Scholastic Reading Club due

Oct. 27- 31 ~ Spirit Week  

Oct. 30 ~ Walking field trip to Braswell's Convalescent Hospital. Please return permission slips ASAP. Please remember to fill out both sides of the slip.

Oct. 31 ~Halloween Party Centers (more information to come).
