Math: Fluently add & subtract within 20

Science: States of matter: The changes of gas, liquid & solid

Leadership: ROAR matrix & healthy habits

Reading: Trouble at the Sandbox & Snowshoe Hare's Winter Home

Language: Illustrations, point of view, character, & key details

Writing: Writing a strong beginning, listing events in chronological order & drafting a narrative

Conventions: Nouns & Irregular verbs

Phonics Skill: Long vowels (vowel- consonant- silent E)

Homework~
1.) Read 20 minutes daily & fill out reading log (due Friday)
2.) Math sheet (due the next day) Because of our new curriculum and we're still getting to know it, we may not have a math sheet everyday. Please check folders on a daily bases.

3.) Practice phonics skill words (test on Friday)
4.) Writing Journal 

Monday: Brainstorming~ Kiddos will brainstorm a topic for the week and create a bubble map decribing their topic. We will review this Monday & will use a journal that you have supplied for your kiddo.

Tuesday: Rough Draft~ Kiddos use the information from their bubble map to create a rough draft. Should be a minimum of half of the journal page. We will review on Tuesday. 

Wednesday: Editing~ Kiddos will use a pen to revise and edit their rough draft.  Kiddos should capitalize the first word of each sentence, use proper nouns and to punctuate properly.  If your kiddo is struggling spelling a word have him/her sound it out and do the best he/she can phonetically.

Thursday: Final Draft~ Students will use their best penmanship to create a final draft of their story. 

 Friday:  Journal entry due

Writing: Character responses, interactions, describe a new character, write to support points of view & rewrite a scene

Conventions: nouns

Phonics: short a, o, u & -ck, -ng, & -nk

Leadership: ROAR matrix & healthy habits

Homework~

Week of 8/15

A huge thank you to all of those who have already turned in the suggested supply list items.  We so greatly appreciate it!! Also thank you for turning in those manila envelopes filled with paperwork so quickly. We have a few kiddos that still need to turn in the paperwork and their individual supplies as soon as possible.

We had a beautiful two days getting to know each other and getting to know the class rules and procedures. We are going to have an awesome year.
